Happy New Year!

As it's the start of a new year, I thought it'd be a good idea to update you on where we're up to with house points, charity fundraising and inter-house competitions.

House Points
Up to Tuesday 18th December, you were awarded 6785 House Points. This is a tremendous effort and those listed below deserve special recognition for being the top House Point scorers in their respective forms:

 7S:  Karanjot Chhatwal - 84
 8S:  Connor Weeden - 93
 9S:  Peter Farmer - 109
 10S:  Sam Boorer - 64
 11S:  Ben Biggs 50
 6S1:  Kishanthan Johnson 61
 6S2:  David Roddy 47

However, when compared to the other Houses it’s clear we need to improve.

1. Telford - 7005 (20.4%)
2. Brunel - 6906 (20.1%)
3. Darwin - 6819 (19.9%)
4. Newton - 6788 (19.8%)
5. Stevenson - 6785 (19.8%)

House charity 2012/13
To date you have raised £605 through a combination of weekly collections and other fundraising activities. Thanks to everyone who has given so generously, particularly 11S who decided to donate £5.00 each earlier this term. I’d also like to acknowledge the outstanding contribution of Miss Allcock who, together with Seun Osho and her superb team of sixth form helpers, baked cakes to sell at open evenings before Christmas and raised £200 as a result. Brilliant! Thank you all.

Mr Williamson has set all five Houses a combined fundraising target of £10,000 for 2012/13. Although we’re just over a quarter of the way towards our individual House target of £2,000, I remain confident that this is achievable. Thanks to both 8S and 9S for their excellent fundraising ideas, which I’m looking forward to seeing come to fruition this year. These will, I’m sure, enable us to edge nearer still to our goal of £2,000.

Inter-House competitions
It was frustrating that both the year 7 and sixth form Inter-House football competitions were repeatedly cancelled before Christmas because of poor weather. Both will now take place this term and I will confirm dates ASAP.  Competitions for all other year group football will take place afterwards.

I'd like to thank Dan Boucher (House Captain) and Tom Percy (Vice Captain) for their superb work since September, particularly the way in which they’ve raised the profile of the House and stressed the importance of everyone playing a part in our achievements. Stevenson House is very fortunate to have two such committed and pro-active students moving the House forward.

As ever, please come and see me, Dan or Tom if you have any queries and/or would like to take a more active role in House activities.

Mr Jarrett
